Release dates

To organise myself and to help the group I made some very clear notes about what will be released when and how we would release e.g what media platform. Being part of social media I  thought this was a helpful way for myself and everyone else to know when work needed to be finalised and ready for uploading. Once I uploaded this to basecamp I created folders on my laptop to keep myself on track of what days I would be uploading and this just made it easier for me. Plus having the final scenes already on my laptop meant I could straight download it to Youtube or just send it straight over to another member in the social media team.

Open Day - At Greenwich University

Promoting our transmedia project as well as the course, I managed to cut out the sugar paper and added icing sugar to the homemade cookies. I also had the chance to speak with students and parents who are interested in the university and studying a media course. I was able to show them the  equipment which we use and they will be using if they choose our course.

Hair & Make Up - Filming Day 3

Here I am doing Jassie hair who plays the Mum (Zara Tanner) as I done it one the first day and we wanted it to be the same due to continuity. But here what I have done is gave her a smaller roller at the front of her head showing that it is another day where she just goes off to work.

Hair & Make Up - Filming Day 3

In these images I am hands on doing one of our actress make up, with this actress I am making her look young and by this I am making her cheeky blush pink and adding glitter. I decided to have a go at doing the children make up for this scene as I didn't do it on the first day of filming, so it was only fair that we took turns in doing hair and make up for each character.

Filming Day 2

Throughout the second day of filming, I took the chance to gain more experience as well as helping out my other group member with equipment. Here we are filming the news reports which will be part of our story, each of us took turn of being on camera and using the equipment. Learning how to focus on the object on screen actuarially  and get the perfect framing, plus picking up just the sound needed and not making it fuzzy or loud, as this will effect our project when it comes to editing and putting it all together.

Set Design - Filming Day 1

Scene where the mum and son have been taken to a refugee camp. Here Selin and myself built a small cosy tent with some of the our groups help. We added blankets in to make it look low cost and scary for the actor and actress.

Scene where the CEO admits whats on the chip. Not much had to be set up here, but for a location I managed to get a free room within the university and then using the desk already in the room as 'Maxwells' office showing the west corp logo on the computer so that it gives it a professorial look.

Hair & Make Up - Day 1

Here you can see me in action doing the actors make up and hair, getting on with my role as set design. Each of actor/actress has certain make up for each scene which we plan to film today, we had our mood-boards with us to help us remember exactly what style or colours we wanted. Having this role I had to be around as of running onto set a few times, to either add make up to stop shine through the camera and also dirt as part of the scene.

List of props

As filming is coming to the approach, I decided to go over with Selin then the group to make sure that I had all the right props written down. This then helped me as I was able to mark off what we had all ready and what we then needed to buy over the weekend.

Budget List - Rough Copy

Future budget listing will be updated with Selin as she has created a Excel spread sheet from my calculations. Due to me gathering receipts and having the role of set designer meaning buying stuff such as make up, props, food and etc, I then knew how much was being spent and what each person had to contribute making it fair.

Concept Art- Props / Location

There I have sketched out a suitcase and luggage bag, part of the scene where the family are at the boarder line with their belonging. On the other side I have sketched out one of our locations which is the living room in the family home. This is just a idea of what it may look like as I looked on google and also at other living rooms with I have scene (mine, families and friends).

Concept Art- Props

I have also managed to sketch out a gun, bat and bullet which might be used in the graphic book at the crossing scene where the family cross over the bridge / boarder to the East, Or it could be on Adam Tanner during his 5 day struggle.

Concept Art- Props

I have managed to draw some props and items which the dad (Adam Tanner) might be carrying on his 5 day struggle or they could even be used in other scenes of the graphic book.

Sugar Paper Invoice

As we are planning on using one of the studios in university on open day to promote our course and also get out transmedia storytelling project promoted. I came up with the idea of having our logo on either cupcakes or cookies so I looked into buying sugar paper with would be ideal to put on either of them. I found This website eatmyface.co.uk with sells sugar edible paper for 90 small circular ones it was £4.50, and I emailed them the logo and they delivered in 2 days. I found that this would be a prefect and creative way of getting people involved with our project.

Concept Art- Work wear/ ID pass

I have drew the dads work outfit, using my mood board idea's making it very formal as of his job role. Next to it i have also drawn his work ID tag which i thought about, due to our story being set in the future I thought that there may be extra security checks and having a ID pass on him will show who exactly he is and who / what he works as / for.

Concept Art- Office

Here is a rough idea of what the dads or CEO office might look like and what type of props will be either around the room or on the desk. I have gone for common props as these will not cost us  and if none of us in the group have these then they will be cheap to buy. But if we choice to use the scene as part of the comic book then we can graphic them and make them look as realistic as possible.

Set Design Budget List

I have created a Budget list for what will be roughly spent for just Set Design, this includes all props, make up and costumes for the character if needed. Once the budget list is finalised and each department have put what is need on there, then it can be equally divided between us all.

CEO Outfit Idea

This is a mood board for the CEO of the West, I have gone for something smart but he has to look clever, smart and quiet smug. Going for the complete suit with a top hat and a long jacket over him just showing that he is boss and very well off and has a lot of power.

Journalist Outfit Idea

Another mood-board I put together for the journalist that will be in the story, as the group have come to the conclusion of him having a little bit of a crazy look. I have gone for the inspiration of  Alfie Moon from Eastenders look with the patterned shirts, but having it open with just a plain t-shirt underneath. He will have messy hair, thick eyebrows and will be wearing glasses just to show his character.

Make Up Ideas

I have created this mood-board just for make up, as each of the characters will have some sort of make up done on the day. I have gone for all them having large eyebrows, but the children will have bright rosy pink cheeks with a little glitter to give them a shine. The mum will have brightly coloured eyeshadow with large black flicks as I think that having such bold and bright make they will look futuristic and it will look normal with our story.

Mums Hair & Make Up

For the mums look I have gone for big hair, quiffs and curls making it look stylish as she is a mother who looks after herself,  but i want to go for a look which is different to what people normal go for. So for example having rollers in her hair at the front two different sizes, trying to hide them but at the same time create a roll in her hair.

Her outfit/outfits on the other hand I have gone for a shirt dress and heels, as i feel this shows she is a working class women who also looks after her husband and two children. The second outfit I have gone for is a long skirt with a shirt with heels making her have that classy every day life look even though she is crossing the boarder and living her home.

Dads Outfit Idea

Here I have done another mood-board for the dads outfits, but narrowed it done and tried to think how it could be different to how men working in the city dress now. I have gone for a roll neck look with pattern or tight trousers with a blazer as I think that in 2060 things will come back in as everything seems to come back into fashion. For his casual wear I have gone for jeans or combat trousers with a plan t-shirt just being comfortable and ready for the five day struggle.

Hair & Make Up for Men

Here I have put together a few images of what the make up and hair styles I am thinking of going for, this is for all the men who are in our story. Where it is futuristic I was thinking the make to be light but their eyebrow quiet thick with neat hair but slicked down, but the son in the story I was thinking to show his young to have a small curl at the front.

Dads Clothing Ideas

Having the role of set designer, I have created a mood-board using a range of images showing two types of outfits which I would like to see the dad wearing. The dad will have two outfits due to the different scenes and I have gone for a basic suit look for work and for casual wear I  have gone for jeans/combats with a t-shirt. This is because I feel the clothing wouldn't have a major change expect maybe the make up and hair styles.

Moodboard Ideas

In this mood-board i have thought about the colour scheme and have personally gone towards the pantone colours which are more earthy. However I thought about logo ideas, and also thought about what the chip would roughly look like.

WEST & EAST Moodboard

Here is a mood-board I created and it shows my own idea of what I describe the West and East being like, how two places in the same country but being so different. So For example London having large tall buildings and very busy but Kent having houses and a lot of greenery.
